ABOUT
MY ABSTRACT PAINTINGS, NATURE PAINTINGS AND
FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY
My
original paintings are oil paintings on canvas and mixed media/acrylic
on canvas and bold wood panels.
All of my work is impacted by nature or images from the physical
world around me. I am greatly influenced by the beauty and diversity
of the natural world and it's multifacited colors, shapes, and textures.
Intrepreting the natural world in original oil paintings and mixed
media as well as fine art photography, is my artistic passion.
I'm very comfortable moving from representational oil paintings,
like my landscape paintings of "Caddo
Lake", to abstract paintings, as in my "Nova
Series". One of my recent abstract painting series,
"Hacienda", expresses the rich textures, and weathered
colors of old world Mexico. This series is representative of my
current abstract painting technique which focuses on the use of
deep textures with subtle multi-layered colors, accented with vibrant
contemporary colors. My painting and texture technique has also
developed into a very fresh contemporary abstract painting series
of mixed-media paintings called "Minimal".
My original oil paintings, mixed media paintings, limited edition
prints and fine art photography are available through this website
as well as galleries in Dallas, Houston, Austin, Santa Fe and Hawaii.

FIRST PAINTING
OF MULTI ART COMMISSION FOR EAGLE'S NEST PRESERVE COMPLETED.
This nature painting, titled "Walter Cruising Grand Lake"
is the first painting completed in a multi-art commission for Eagle's
Nest Preserve.
Currently under construction, Eagle's Nest Preserve is an exclusive
private fishing and corporate retreat facility between Athens and
Tyler, Texas. Eagle's Nest is the creation of Mr. Lee Roy Mitchell,
founder and chairman of Cinemark Theaters.
This painting is the first of 3 underwater bass paintings and will
be displayed in the future "Grande Lodge" at Eagle's Nest.
The fourth painting in the commission will be a 10' oil painting
of the lake at Eagle's Nest Preserve.
My goals in this painting were to capture the attitude of the bass,
the fish floating or swimming underwater and the habitat where bass
find food and shelter. The oil painting measures 30" x 40"
and will have a very unique frame custom made from an old crusty
cedar log.
